VP JD Vance Slams Media for Reviving Disproven Hegseth Allegations: “This Is a Shame”

In a defense of his colleague and Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance has criticized the media for resurfacing previously debunked accusations in an apparent effort to tarnish Hegseth’s reputation.

The latest round of allegations, published by multiple outlets on Tuesday, accuses Hegseth of being abusive during his previous marriage. Despite repeated denials and a lack of evidence from those directly involved, the media has latched onto these claims, leading Vance to publicly condemn their actions.

Unpacking the Allegations

The accusations stem from statements made by Danielle Hegseth, the ex-sister-in-law of Pete Hegseth, during a closed-door congressional hearing. Danielle alleged that Pete was “abusive” toward his ex-wife, Samantha Hegseth, claiming Samantha had a “code word” to signal distress and even hid in a closet out of fear for her safety.

However, Danielle admitted under oath that she had never personally witnessed any physical or sexual abuse. Instead, she described Pete’s behavior as “unpredictable and aggressive” at times.

In response, Pete Hegseth’s attorney, Tim Parlatore, categorically denied the accusations. “Sam has never claimed there was any abuse. She signed court documents stating there was no abuse and reaffirmed this during her recent FBI interview,” Parlatore stated. He also accused Danielle of being an “anti-Trump liberal” with personal animosity toward the Hegseth family.

Statements from the Parties Involved

Samantha Hegseth herself has consistently denied the abuse allegations. In a prior statement to NBC News, she declared, “There was no physical abuse in my marriage,” and declined to provide further comments on the matter.

Despite these clear denials, major media outlets have continued to push the narrative, sparking outrage among conservatives and supporters of President Trump’s administration.

VP Vance Condemns Media Tactics

Vice President JD Vance didn’t hold back in his criticism of the press, accusing them of perpetuating false narratives for political gain.

“This is a shame,” Vance stated during a press briefing. “The media is so desperate to attack anyone associated with this administration that they’re willing to recycle baseless accusations that have already been disproven. It’s an embarrassment to journalism.”

Vance emphasized the importance of focusing on facts rather than politically motivated hit pieces. “Pete Hegseth is a patriot and a leader. He’s dedicated his life to serving this country, and the media’s obsession with tearing him down reflects their own biases, not the truth.”

The Political Implications

The controversy surrounding Hegseth’s nomination has become a flashpoint in the ongoing battle between Trump’s administration and the mainstream media. Supporters argue that this is yet another example of the media attempting to discredit the president’s nominees with unfounded allegations.

Hegseth, a former military officer and television personality, has long been a polarizing figure in political circles. His unapologetic support for President Trump’s America First policies and his outspoken conservative views have made him a frequent target for criticism.

A Call for Accountability

As the Senate prepares to vote on Hegseth’s confirmation, the focus remains on whether these allegations will have any impact on the proceedings. Supporters like Vance are calling for a renewed commitment to fact-based reporting and accountability in journalism.

“This administration is about results,” Vance concluded. “The American people deserve leaders who are focused on making a difference, not those distracted by unfounded smears.”
