A heated public feud has erupted within the conservative media sphere, as Tucker Carlson took sharp aim at Mark Levin, his former colleague at Fox News, over a controversial accusation of anti-Semitism.
At the center of the storm is Steve Witkoff, a senior Trump administration official and Special Envoy for the Middle East, who recently made comments describing neoconservatives as “fanatical warmongers.” Witkoff’s statement sparked intense backlash from Levin, who shockingly claimed the term “neocon” is a pejorative for Jew.
“We’ve reached peak crazy,” Carlson said in a passionate takedown of Levin’s assertion. “Witkoff is a decent man who worked tirelessly for peace. And yes, he’s Jewish.”

Internal GOP Feud Over Foreign Policy Language
The controversy began when Witkoff, during an interview, criticized the neoconservative wing of U.S. foreign policy, noting that many within that faction believe military conflict is the default solution to global problems.
In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), Mark Levin, host of Life, Liberty & Levin on Fox, responded to Witkoff’s remarks with a stunning claim:
“By the way, neocon is a pejorative for Jew. Unbelievable,” Levin wrote.
That statement didn’t sit well with Carlson, who swiftly rebutted the implication that using the term “neocon” is somehow inherently anti-Semitic, especially when used to describe a bipartisan ideology that promotes interventionist wars.
Tucker Defends Trump Official, Calls Out Fox Narrative
Carlson, one of the most influential conservative voices in America, pushed back forcefully on Levin’s framing. He emphasized that Witkoff had devoted his time to freeing Jewish hostages from Hamas and actively working to stabilize the Middle East.
“He’s a Jewish Trump official who literally worked to save lives,” Carlson said. “And Levin is now accusing him of bigotry because he criticized the foreign policy failures of the neocon establishment?”
Carlson further claimed that Fox News itself appears to be promoting a pro-war agenda, suggesting that Levin’s comments align with the network’s broader narrative favoring aggressive foreign policy toward Iran.
Understanding the Term “Neocon”
Historically, neoconservatism was a movement led by mostly Jewish intellectuals disillusioned with the Democratic Party during the Cold War. However, in recent decades, the term has grown to include figures such as John Bolton, Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney, and Nikki Haley—regardless of religion—who advocate for U.S. military interventions abroad.
Carlson argued that Levin’s decision to equate “neocon” with “Jew” distorts the meaning and weaponizes identity politics to silence legitimate debate over American foreign policy.
“Calling someone a neocon is not anti-Semitic,” said one political analyst. “It’s about criticizing policy, not race or religion.”

Political Fallout and Conservative Divide
This public spat reveals deeper fractures within the Republican Party and conservative media, especially over foreign policy, Israel, and the legacy of U.S. military engagements. Carlson and Levin represent two powerful ideological factions: non-interventionist populism vs. traditional hawkish conservatism.
The feud also reignites debate about the use of terms like “neocon” in mainstream political discourse—and whether such labels can or should be considered offensive or inappropriate.
As Carlson aptly put it:
“You can’t just label every disagreement anti-Semitism. That shuts down honest conversation.”
