In a powerful White House press conference on Friday, President Donald Trump confirmed that the historic Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) budget cuts—spearheaded by Elon Musk—will soon become federal law as part of a broader strategy to eliminate government waste and inefficiency.
Standing beside Musk, whose temporary 130-day role as a “Special Government Employee” had officially ended, the president assured Americans that the reforms introduced by DOGE would be permanently codified once Congress passes his much-anticipated “Big, Beautiful Bill”, currently in review by the Republican-controlled Senate.
“We are absolutely committed to making the DOGE cuts permanent,” Trump said. “We’ve eliminated so much unnecessary spending already, but there’s still a long road ahead. Once our Big, Beautiful Bill is finalized, Congress will take the next step to lock in these reforms for good.”

Trump emphasized that the proposed spending reductions—many of which target outdated bureaucratic systems and redundant administrative programs—will save hundreds of billions in taxpayer dollars, dramatically shrinking the size and cost of the federal government.
The president didn’t hold back in praising Musk, calling him “one of the greatest innovators of our generation” and thanking him for dedicating his time and energy to a cause that stirred immense political backlash from progressives. Musk’s participation in DOGE reforms sparked protests at Tesla facilities and even acts of sabotage, including arson at EV charging stations.
Despite growing media speculation about tensions between Trump and Musk—especially after Musk’s public criticism of the bill’s scope—the president dismissed any suggestion of a rift. In a public statement, Johnson explained, “The House is fully aligned with President Trump’s vision. We’re ready to take action on DOGE’s findings and finalize these reforms through two main channels—first, via the White House’s rescissions package, and second, through the 2026 appropriations process.”
He assured Americans that the House GOP will ensure the largest spending rollback in modern U.S. history moves forward with urgency.
Trump also confirmed that many members of the DOGE team would remain active in advisory roles, and praised Musk for enduring what he called “the slings and arrows” of political warfare while delivering measurable government improvements.
Elon Musk himself took the stage briefly, sharing an optimistic vision for the future of DOGE. “My time as a special government employee may be over,” he said, “but DOGE is just getting started. The mission to reform government is far from complete. The DOGE impact will only grow from here.”
