In a bombshell revelation during a televised interview, FBI official Kash Patel shared exclusive details about an upcoming federal agency transformation that will impact thousands of FBI employees across the nation. The iconic J. Edgar Hoover Building in Washington, D.C., which has served as the FBI’s headquarters for nearly five decades, will no longer be the bureau’s central hub.
“This FBI is leaving the Hoover Building because this building is unsafe for our workforce,” said Patel, speaking in a segment from Fox News’ ‘Sunday Morning Futures’, which aired early Friday.
He continued,
“We want the American men and women to know that if you’re going to work for the premier law enforcement agency in the world, you deserve a workplace that reflects that commitment—and this building no longer does.”

Strategic Move to Decentralize FBI Operations
Patel’s comments indicate a strategic shift in the FBI’s long-standing approach to centralized operations. With over 38,000 employees at full staffing, the agency is now looking to decentralize resources from the National Capital Region, which currently houses around 11,000 FBI personnel.
“A third of our workforce is based in and around Washington, D.C.,” Patel noted. “But a third of the nation’s crime doesn’t happen here.”
To correct that imbalance, Patel confirmed that approximately 1,500 FBI staff members will be relocated from the D.C. area to various regions across the country.
“Every state’s getting a plus-up,” he added, referring to the bureau’s plan to redistribute FBI personnel nationwide to improve crime-fighting efficiency and better serve local communities.
Dan Bongino: ‘That’s a BIG Nugget’
Also present during the live segment was Deputy Director Dan Bongino, who was quick to point out the magnitude of Patel’s announcement.
“Look, that’s a BIG nugget right there,” Bongino remarked, acknowledging the unprecedented scope of the bureau’s move.
