During an appearance on MSNBC, AOC was pressed on whether Schumer’s actions were influenced by his fear of being ousted by the socialist firebrand. Host Chris Hayes directly asked if Schumer’s refusal to strike a deal with Republicans was rooted in his political survival.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) was even more blunt, saying: “Our government is shutting down because a former bartender from the Bronx scared Chuck Schumer into submission. Democrats would rather bankroll healthcare for illegal aliens than pay our troops.”
Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) added: “Schumer is afraid of his own shadow, and that shadow’s name is AOC. Tonight, that shadow loomed over the entire Democrat Party as they voted to shut down the government.”
