Democratic Senator Adam Schiff is facing heavy criticism after making bold accusations against two of Donald Trump’s key nominees, even before they assume their official roles.
Schiff, a vocal opponent of the Trump administration, took to social media to accuse Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi and FBI Director nominee Kash Patel of breaking their commitments. However, a crucial detail undermined his argument—neither Bondi nor Patel have officially taken office yet.
Schiff’s Misstep Sparks Online Fury
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Schiff wrote:
“FBI Director nominee Kash Patel promised no retribution. The next day, we have this grotesque purge at the FBI.”
Critics were quick to point out that Patel has not yet been confirmed, making it impossible for him to have enacted any policies. Similarly, Pam Bondi is still undergoing the confirmation process and has yet to exercise any authority as Attorney General.
Schiff’s statement appears to suggest that Trump’s justice and intelligence teams are already engaging in political retribution. However, without either nominee officially in office, the claim lacks credibility.

Social Media Users Call Out Schiff’s Blunder
Schiff’s post did not go unnoticed, as users across X and other platforms slammed him for his misleading claims.
Conservative commentator Benny Johnson responded:
“Schiff is lying—again. Patel and Bondi aren’t even in office yet. More fake news from the king of hoaxes.”
Another user added:
“How does someone break a promise before they even start the job? Classic Schiff.”
The Larger Political Narrative
Schiff has long been a staunch critic of Trump and played a key role in pushing the Russia collusion narrative, which was later discredited. His latest claims are seen as an extension of his anti-Trump stance, attempting to frame the incoming administration as authoritarian before it even takes full control.
Meanwhile, Trump supporters argue that the backlash against Patel and Bondi is premature and politically motivated.
Kash Patel, a former national security official, has openly committed to restoring integrity at the FBI. Similarly, Pam Bondi has vowed to prioritize law and order, drawing support from conservative circles.

What Comes Next?
With confirmation hearings still underway, both nominees are expected to face tough opposition from Democrats. However, Schiff’s preemptive criticism could weaken their arguments if it appears politically charged rather than based on facts.
As the Biden administration exits and Trump’s second term begins, political tensions remain high. Whether Patel and Bondi will push for major DOJ and FBI reforms remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Schiff’s attempt to discredit them before they even take office has backfired spectacularly.
